Description
Looking north-east to the tiny rocky islets of Lingy Holm, William has painted the waters of Ullswater looking serene and comparatively unruffled on a calm autumn morning. Behind the green swathes on the branches of the tree in the foreground, our eyes are led to the bracken-clad steep slopes of Place Fell to the upper right of the picture, whilst in the far distance, at the foot of the lake, the sun breaks across the low hills around Lowther Castle.
Set within a dark blue frame, double mounted.
