“We’re delighted to be launching a series of events to mark the 50th Anniversary of this momentous achievement with an exhibition at Heaton Cooper Gallery in Grasmere.
The exhibition will feature the celebrated mountain photography of Sir Chris Bonington and Doug Scott and displays of climbing gear, expedition equipment and personal items from the climb, some of which are on public display for the first time.
The items include Doug Scott's ice axe and Everest boots and Chris Bonington's 'sealsuit' overboots. There is also the C and H Norwand, blue windsuit which Doug can be seen wearing in the photograph of him standing on the summit, possibly one of the best known Everest images of all time. Entrance to the exhibition is free of charge.”
The exhibition will run from 14th August – 14th September 2025.
Exhibition opening times 9.00 - 5.00 Daily
