Red Tarn, Helvellyn - Original Painting by William Heaton Cooper R.I. (1903 - 1995)

Sale price£2,700.00

Helvellyn (named from the Cumbric - ‘pale yellow upland’) is, at 950m, the third highest mountain in England after Scafell Pike and Scafell. Thousands are familiar with the airy approach to the mountain via Striding Edge, the final tower of which is seen in this scene on the left.

As the mountain drowses in summer heat, Red Tarn appears green, cool and inviting under its beetling crags in this painting by William.

Set within a subtle charcoal frame.
